Adventures of Chack and Uniko

Updated: Jan 21, 2021

Long ago, when the land was made up of margarine soils and the root of

trees, the sand and snow, there lived an existence of gnigomites. They were half

gnome and half midgets, but because they were different, they were shunned from

their lands in hatred and laughed at by all the people. Not because they were ugly

their beauty sufficed all eternal mysteries and splendor. Nature was drawn to them,

hypnotized by their aura and innocence.

There was one particular gnigomite named Chackjet. He was the youngest

(human years to be 17) of all the land and had no one to play with or whom could

understand his deep puzzling mind. On particularly long hot days he would skip out

on his chores and go off into the forest of blue. This forest was of awry of colors, the

trees a deep hypnotic blue, the sand beneath a bright contrasting pink and the

waters ethereal flow a soft glowing green. Chack, as the ‘villagers’ called him,

enjoyed this forest much better and each day there was a strange new adventure

everyday. He did have a companion however, one of the rare Unicorns. His name

was Uniko, Unicorn of the unwinged and white ones. As most people think of

Unicorns, they think them to be white, but not him, Uniko was a soft cream, his main

and tail an enlightenment of bright gold and his hooves a deep emerald. Uniko, was

also from a ‘clan’ that was disliked for their colors, and often would leave his home to

join his good friend Chack.

Smiling, Chack reached up to give his good pal a friendly rub and smiled in

bliss at feeling the ‘horses’ rare skin of velvety-satin. “Today will be a fine day.”

Uniko said as he glanced at his surroundings. “Yes, I do agree!” Chackjet said. Just

then, a pink bunny hopped out of the brush near them, carrying a bright colored

basket full of multi-colored eggs and continued onward toward the purple horizon.

They sat in silence and watched it in wonder. They knew of the bunnies (the fury

creatures that represent a bun) but they have never seen one in that color, and with

a basket!!

“ We should follow it, and see where it goes!” Uniko suggested and took Chack’s

silent nod as a sign of approval. They followed it past the Hompson house, and the

church, into a strange looking town that had huge buildings, noticing that it stopped

at almost every place handing other bunnies multicolored eggs. Finally, the bunny

had stopped outside the village to take a rest. Chack, unable to contain himself any

longer, rushed up to the pick fluffy bunny.

“Who are you, and what do you have in that marvelous basket of yours?!” he asked

hurriedly, surprising the bunny. The pink bunny with big blue eyes stood there in

shock, and then slowly began to cry. Chack, not knowing what to do, looked

desperately at Uniko for help.

Smiling in the time of need, he approached the bunny. “My name is Uniko,

Unicorn of the rare ones, and this is Chackjet, a gnigomite, and we’re hoping to find

out whom you may be.”

The sad eyed creature looked up at them, tears running down its face and spoke

quietly so no one else could hear, “My name is Easter." Sighing woefully she uttered,

"No one likes me, I try my hardest to be nice, giving them my chocolate eggs, and

yet they only use me. Every day I hope one will invite me in and include me in tea,

but because I am different, they do not let me in.” Chack was still curious and

couldn’t help rudely ask, “How did you get to be suck a strange color?”

“Well, I was once white, but one day I as playing near a strawberry bush and fell in,

mom and I tried to get the red out but it only faded to this pale pink. Now, no one

wants me because I didn’t and couldn’t look like them. Although, I know they do

enjoy my special eggs made of chocolate.” Uniko and Chack smiled in understanding

and told the bunny how much they are shunned too and that in their lands they also

are too different. The bunny smiled in glee at gaining new friends and they decided

her name would be Easter Bunny. They all continued that day to help her distribute

the eggs and as always, meet for an afternoon adventure.

So when you see a sad and lonely stranger, make them friends and accept them.

Remember Uniko and Chack and this one special adventure.
